Today's plan?
1) Eat cheap and healthy; salmon patty and yogurt brought from home.
2) Continue selling things on Amazon. Not really for profit, but to rid myself of too many possessions.
3) Go to the library and donate books; they are in fiscal trouble (they sell what they don't put into circulation).
3.5) Continue to donate books. It helps get rid of clutter and they are things no one on Amazon will buy.
College texts from 13 years ago? Please.
I was lucky to sell off The War Against the Poor. Decent book though, from what I remember. The main message was: QUIT CHASTISING PEOPLE WHO HAVE NOTHING.

Wednesday
Packed lunch. Rather, it was packed for me. Vegetable pasta and yogurt. No walking was done because Donna wanted to sit and chat in the commons area. Just as well. My ankle still hurts.
I recycle all plastic flatware. There is no reason not to. Every floor of the firm has these plastic recycling bins. Why do people continue to throw away reusable resources? Recycling is so easy.
There is a free ice cream social upstairs in 45 minutes. I don't need it. No free ice cream. No sir.

Why I started this blog
Being a parent has forced me to take a good hard look in the mirror (both literally and figuratively) and ask myself "Is this who I want to be? Is this who I would want my kid to be?" I firmly believe that actions speak volumes louder than words, so I'm determined to make my actions consistent with the values I try to pass on to June. I've been making a mental list of some of the things I need to work on:
- Conserve--money, resources, the environment.
- Be healthy--eat better, exercise, get adequate rest.
- Be kind and understanding of others--not just when in their presence, but in spirit as well.
- Have a safe, comfortable home--this means keeping up with basic cleaning and organizing, getting rid of clutter, allowing our home to be a positive reflection of our family.
- Balance--think critically about things without being overcome with negativity. Also, balancing "mommy time" with "Jill time" and "Jill and John time" and "family and friend time".

Walking blues
It's a sort-of nice day for walking. It's hot, but not scorchingly so. My ankle feels a tiny bit better after twisting it last week. So I decide to walk to the library today. All the way from the Huntington Center to Grant Avenue, and then back again. It's a walk I've done many times, but today was the first I've done it in about a week.
Unfortunately, I balanced this light exercise with an unhealthy trip to Potbelly. I forgot my lunch at home, as usual. Eating better and bringing your lunch every day; can they go hand in hand? One hopes.
My ankle does not feel well after this tiny hike. Perhaps I ought to ice it more.
